Since 1961

Founded in Mexico in 1961, The Confederation of North, Central America and Caribbean Association Football (CONCACAF) is the continental governing body for association football in North America, Central America and the Caribbean nations. The association is comprised of 41 member associations from the CFU (Caribbean Zone), UNCAF (Central America Zone)CONCACAF football referees image map and NAFU (North America Zone). Bonaire is the latest association to become part of the group, being promoted to a full member in 2014.

A member of FIFA, the association’s main functions include organizing competitions for national teams and clubs and to conduct the qualifying tournaments for the Men’s World Cup and Women’s World Cup. Other competitions include the Caribbean Cup, Gold Cup, Central America Cup and Copa America Centenario.

Identifying and training new referees is a critical function of CONCACAF. The organization’s refereeing department offers referee development programming tailored to meet the education and training needs of all 41 CONCACAF member associations. The CONCACAF officials prime responsibility is to ensure healthy competition while maintaining the spirit of fair play.
