Resources and Collection
This collection is filled with links to contacts, news and resources for the Volleyball Referee. Volleyball is a team sport that was first played in Holyoke, Massachusetts in 1895. Originally called Mintonette, the rules were first created by a PE teacher named William Morgan. The popularity of the new game grew quickly and in 1896, the name was changed to Volley Ball.
After first appearing in the 1924 Paris Games, Volleyball joined the Olympics in 1964. Since then, the Beach Volleyball event has become one of its most popular attractions and biggest TV draws at the Summer Games. This collection includes all variations of the sport played at all levels. There are Olympic referees and High School referees, so it is always possible that you could even see someone you know as it is to find out who called the exciting game you just watched on TV.
